King Edward VI Handsworth – New Build School Completion in Birmingham

The Brief: To document the handover of this major new educational facility for BAM Construction. The requirement was a comprehensive visual package showcasing the scale of the build, from the external brick facade to the specialized internal learning environments.

The Narrative: Modern educational architecture is defined by light and flow. My objective was to capture how the building functions as a “machine for learning.”

STEM Focus: The shoot highlighted the high-spec science laboratories and DT workshops, emphasizing the clean lines and modern machinery.

Arts & Culture: Capturing the scale of the main auditorium and the “black box” drama studio, showing the versatility of the performance spaces.

Identity: The images focus on the bold orange and red color accents used in the circulation spaces and washrooms, which tie the interior design back to the external red brickwork.

The Approach: We utilized a combination of drone operations to contextualize the new block within the existing campus and wide-angle architectural lenses to capture the vastness of the atrium and dining spaces without distortion.

The Deliverable: A full suite of “tender-ready” images used by the construction team for case studies, bid documents, and press releases.
